Off the list: Manny Machado

A career .302 hitter, a certain level of patience has been earned when it comes to Charlie Blackmon. Batting a mere .228 so far through 30 games, Blackmon has turned it on of late slashing .350/.422/.475 over his last 11 games. The fact that he has not hit under .283 since his rookie year is remarkable. So, don’t worry, he’ll get there.

Off the list: Luis Arraez (injury), Brandon Nimmo (injury), Cedric Mullins (ownership), Davis Peralta (ownership), Nico Hoerner (injury)

Josh Harrison being fantasy-relevant in 2021 seems pretty unreal, but the former All-Star is getting every day run at the keystone position while batting in the top third of the Nationals’ order. The veteran has posted a .solid 305/.394/.463 line thus far and is worth a look in deeper leagues while the playing time is there.

As DJ LeMahieu goes, so does the Yankees’ offense. This is evident by LeMahieu’s numbers over the past two weeks as he has a .391 OBP and has scored 15 runs across an 11-4 span for the Bombers. Expect the numbers to be elite across the board come season’s end for DJLM.

Over the past week, few hitters have been hotter than Miguel Rojas. The veteran infielder is batting leadoff in Miami and over his past six games is slashing .455/.520/.955 with nine runs scored and a pair of homers.

Joey Gallo has three homers in his last three games after only having three on the year before that. The home run total is expected to be there from Gallo by year’s end but his slugging percentage of .412 has fantasy owners pulling their hair out. Expect the slugger to right the ship, if he hasn’t started already.

Brandon Crawford has slugged three homers across his last four games, bringing his season total to seven, which is more than half of his 2019 total. Though he may be eligible at a position that is relatively stacked in fantasy, Crawford could be a useful replacement for someone who may still be awaiting Adalberto Mondesi’s return.

The unquestioned Comeback Player of the Year, Trey Mancini currently sits fourth in the majors in RBI. It is amazing enough that Mancini was able to return to the field in any capacity but to return to the heart of the Orioles’ order and be an elite run producer is remarkable.

Avisaíl García is mashing his way to a .500 batting average to go along with eight RBI over his last nine games. He is batting pretty regularly in the middle of the Brew Crew order and without Christian Yelich, Garcia should maintain his spot.

Off the list: Luis Robert (injury), Jazz Chisholm Jr. (injury), Byron Buxton (injury), Tommy Pham

The majority of the movement here is due to injuries. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has quietly stolen six bags and has produced them across the board for fantasy purposes. Not to mention he is eligible at catcher which boosts his value immensely.

Unfortunately, this is the real bottom of the barrel in terms of stolen bases. For what it’s worth, Niko Goodrum has attempted seven steals, yet only successful on four of them. He has shown the willingness to run, so that makes him, at the very least, a deep league option.

Off the list: Jeff McNeil, Paul Goldschmidt

Jesse Winker’s profile is looking a lot like another Cincinnati Red left-handed bat that is, coincidentally, his teammate. Although, it isn’t very much of a coincidence because you would have to assume Joey Votto has been in the ear of Winker since he’s been in the bigs. Winker is slashing .354/.418/.626 on the year and it appears he has become a fixture towards the top of the Reds’ lineup.

Yandy Díaz has walked 46 times while only striking out 35 times since the beginning of last season. That has equated into a robust .413 OBP so those in need of a corner infielder, especially in OBP leagues, look no further.

After a couple of rough outings to start the year, Tyler Anderson is 3-1 with a 2.35 ERA over his last four turns. There is a very good chance Anderson gets dealt at the trade deadline if he continues to pitch as effectively as he has for the rebuilding Pirates, but until then he is definitely worth an add in most mixed leagues until he starts to get solved.

Off the list: Kyle Hendricks

The fantasy community’s adopted child, John Means, is really stepping into that next level among starting pitchers. His last four starts are evidence of that: four quality starts, three victories (one of which being a no-hitter), a 0.92 ERA, and a partridge in a pear tree.

J.A. Happ’s numbers are evidence that he still has something left in the tank. The now-38-year old lefty has been solid all year with a 1.91 ERA to show for it. But over his last three outings, especially, Happ has been on lockdown with a 1.37 ERA across nearly 20 innings.

I think it is safe to say Craig Kimbrel is back. Granted, I may have just jinxed the former All-Star by saying that, but I cannot help it. I’m not saying Dallas Keuchel is a must-own or anything, but he has turned his season back around. Three of his last four starts have been solid and his WHIP has been lowered to 1.21. After a sensational 2020 in his first year in Chicago, Keuchel should be a good bet to remain a solid fantasy starter the rest of 2021.

It has been a pleasant surprise to see the Dodgers let Walker Buehler go out there and do what he does best, all while working beyond the fifth inning. In all six of his outings, he has gone at least six innings and five of which have been of the quality variety. The kid is a stud and has the looks of a real innings-eater once the reigns come off for good.

If I told you that Jon Gray has made four starts at Coors Field, and in those four home starts he has posted a quality start in all of them, with a 2.08 ERA, would you believe me? Well, believe it or not, Ripley, it’s true. In his lone two road starts Gray has a 6.30 ERA. What a strange year. And here we thought 2020 was crazy.
