Every morning we review the nastiest pitches from the previous day’s games in glorious HD GIFs. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite pitch and check back this weekend to see if it will be in contention for the GIF of the Second Half Contest. Did we miss your favorite pitch? Zach Davies‘ Fastball – Davies hasn’t had the smoothest 2017 season, but he’s shown improvements over the last month. He got off to a great start in Monday night’s affair by striking out his first batter with a beautiful front-door Fastball that stunned Denard Span.

Mike Clevinger’s Changeup – It wasn’t the same kind of outing that we’ve seen from Clevinger recently as he couldn’t make it out of the fifth against the Red Sox. Still, he made some batters look foolish, especially Jackie Bradley Jr. as he chased this wicked Changeup well off the plate.

Carlos Rodon’s Sliders – If you’re dying to see the best Sliders thrown in the game, you’ve come to the right place. Rodon’s slide piece is as filthy as they come and can be devastating to right-handers as the pitch lands at their ankles. He earned a pair of strikeouts against the Twins with the very pitch and it’s oh-so pretty to watch.

Robert Gsellman’s Fastball – This pitch is as borderline as they come, but Gsellman got the call with this 3-2 bases loaded Fastball on the low-and-outside corner to Taijuan WalkerThe slow-motion shot is everything you would want to get your opinion and our judgement is that Gsellman threw the perfect pitch to get out of a tight jam.

Alex Wood’s Changeup – Wood showcased diminished velocity on Monday night as he may hit the DL now with shoulder inflammation, but with the Pittsburgh camera angle we were able to see the massive amount of drop he gets with his Changeup on a daily basis. Check this slow ball to David Freese and you’ll understand the love for Wood this season.

Would Gsellmen’s fastball there be considered a cutter?
