Walker Buehler’s Curveball – Buehler struck out seven in seven innings of one run ball against the Brewers. His curveball absolutely mystified new second baseman Travis Shaw, who took a big swing and a miss for strike three.

Trevor Bauer’s Fastball – It was an unusual start for Bauer on Tuesday, who posted a quality start but only struck out three. One of them was this nasty two-seamer that froze Jake Cave and got an emphatic strike three call.

Jack Flaherty’s Slider – Flaherty struck out seven in 5.1 innings on Tuesday. His tight slider started out off the plate and broke in on the hands of Ryan McMahon for a rather filthy strikeout.

Masahiro Tanaka’s Splitter – Tanaka was dealing on Tuesday, tossing six shutout innings and striking out eight. His splitter dove down and away from the plate, getting a big swing and a miss from Mark Trumbo.

Jon Gray’s Curveball – Gray has returned well from his brief stint in Triple-A, posting a quality start on Tuesday and striking out five. His curveball on the inner half got a nice swing through from Matt Carpenter for one of those strikeouts.

Tayron Guerrero’s Fastball – Sometimes I have to remember back to my ninth grade physics class that taught me that something thrown downward cannot move upward. Guerrero’s fastball appears to go straight before climbing the ladder and getting a big whiff from Dansby Swanson
