Both Zac Gallen and Frankie Montas are available in the FA pool in my small and shallow friends league. Looking more closely at the QS category, Montas had converted a high % of his starts to QS with 12 out of 16 in just 96 IP. Conversely, Gallen had a hard time going deep into games converting only 5 QS out of 15 in 80 IP.
With similar projected ratios and K% profile, would you take Montas or Gallen if you wanted more QS in a shortened season?
Hey PG!
I’d favor Gallen over Montas. I prefer Gallen’s overall repertoire that would suggest a higher floor throughout the year.
I’m also anticipating a lower walk rate from Gallen, though, which would speak more in a QS league. If you don’t see a major change there, Montas would be the better play.
