The final vote in the first round comes from two pitches that we had no choice but to include in the tournament. The first is Marcus Stroman’s Slider that never had a proper vote for inclusion as it occurred during last weekend’s weekly vote. Nevertheless, its incredible bend that reminded us of previous winner Chaz Roe’s Slider forced us to make the editorial decision to include it without the reader vote. On the other hand, annual contender Chris Sale couldn’t miss an event like this and gets his horse in the race with a signature slide piece that traveled across the entire plate and made Trey Mancini to lose his bat in a failed effort to make contact.
