Injury Report: 8/2

Jeff Davis provides an update in today's edition of the Injury Report.

Hello and welcome to the Injury Report!

This roundup is a biweekly article, published on Mondays and Fridays, where I aim to detail approximately five relevant injuries that have occurred over the past few days, or provide an update on the injury of a prominent MLB player. I will try to incorporate the available information as well as my own knowledge and experience to approximate a return date in each case, noting the individual characteristics of the injuries and of the players themselves.

If you have questions regarding an injury not detailed in this article, feel free to comment below, and I will give my best effort to provide a timely update.

Ross Stripling – Neck Stiffness

Ross Stripling has been able to throw since being sidelined with neck stiffness but is still anticipated to miss his next start. It appears at this time that he will only miss one start.

Estimated return: End of next week

Yoan Moncada – Right Hamstring Strain

Yoan Moncada hit the IL with a hamstring strain that is reported to be Grade 1. Moncada will likely miss two to four weeks.

Estimated return: Early September

Luke Voit – Sports Hernia

Luke Voit is dealing with a sports hernia that will keep him out for an extended period. It is unclear whether surgical intervention is required, but Voit is likely to miss at least four to six weeks—perhaps more if surgery is indicated.

Estimated return: Mid- to late September

Ramon Laureano – Right Shin Stress Reaction

Ramon Laureano is experiencing a stress reaction in his right shin. The typical timetable for a stress reaction in the shin is six to eight weeks, which puts Laureano’s return near the end of the season.

Estimated return: Mid- to late September

Alex Verdugo – Left Knee Soreness

Alex Verdugo was not in the lineup Thursday due to left knee soreness. This appears to be a minor issue and should not hold him out for long.

Estimated return: Day-to-day for now with return to full play by the beginning of next week
