Aaron Nola’s Curveball

Aaron Nola was cruising through this start until the 6th inning rolled around, and everything went belly up. Nola now sports a 4.63 ERA on the season for the Phillies, though also has a career high 10.2 K/9. Hopefully he can get himself back on track his next time out against the Cincinnati Reds.

JD Hammer’s Slider

The Padres were the first team to get on the scoreboard against JD Hammer this season, knocking him about for 2 ER. The 24 year-old reliever has had a great minor league career, and has shown some nice stuff in his short time in the majors.

Robbie Ray’s Curveball

Robbie Ray pitched well on Monday, though it was overshadowed by an extraordinary 8-inning outing opposite him by Walker Buehler. The former Mariners prospect can only flail to try and hit this nasty bender from the lefty, who now has a 3.62 ERA on the year.

Cam Bedrosian’s Slider

Opening for the Angels on Monday, Cam Bedrosian lowered his ERA to 2.96 with a single inning, 2 K start. Still just 27, Bedrosian has emerged as one of the more under-appreciated relievers in baseball, with a 3.23 ERA since 2016. With stuff this filthy, it’s not difficult to see why he’s had the success he’s had.

Walker Buehler’s Slider

Walker Buehler posted the highlight of Monday’s four total games, allowing just two hits over 8 innings of 1 run, 11 K ball. He hasn’t been quite the dominant force we saw his rookie year this season, but this outing is certainly a step in the correct direction. He hasn’t been missing bats as regularly, though it’s worth noting that he’s lowered his BB/9 to an impressive 1.6.
