Top 100 Relievers to Own in Save+Hold Leagues: 6/22 Update

Rick Graham's weekly update of the Top 100 Relievers to own in SV+HLDs leagues.

[sv_hlds_list list_id=”22270″ include_stats=”1″ season=”2018″]

Following up on our weekly Closers and Holds articles will be our Top 100 RP’s for SV+HD leagues every Friday. Use this list to get a feel for the current reliever market and to gauge value for trades, waiver adds, etc. Keep in mind, holds are much more volatile and harder to predict. We’ve only seen one season from a pitcher with more than 30 holds since 2016, while 26 closers have gone over 30 saves in that same timeframe.

Austin Gomber with 6 holds this month. Anything there?

    • Rick Graham says:

Not really. 7/7 K/BB, plus 4 ERA. Probably will be sent back down when the DL relievers (Lyons, Gregerson, Leone, Bowman) return.

  2. Fletch.F.Fletch says:

Saves+Holds right? Why does Herrera drop so far? He’s already picked up one hold and one win pitching the 8th for the Nationals.

    • Rick Graham says:

If he keeps pitching well he’ll move up fast. Saves are typically easier to predict than holds for relievers, plus the move to a new team (never know how that will effect a player) dropped him this week. So far so good for him in Washington though.

  3. Bbboston says:

Love this column, but the Fernando Rodney ranking is wildly wrong. The guy absolutely has the position locked down; provides reasonable stats and plentiful save opportunities, etc

    • Rick Graham says:

He’s been awesome so far, I’m just skeptical he can keep this going in the second half. There are guys I’m willing to ride/die with but Rodneys not going to be one.

  4. Jim says:

Chad Green is so frustrating to own in a SV+H league. He makes 1 appearance a week, and if he doesn’t vulture a W, his value depends on if Robertson went the day before.

    • Rick Graham says:

For sure, but he’s so good that if a something opens up and he gets regular 7th/8th inning set up innings, he’s probably a top 5-6 holds option

  5. Johnny Ryall says:

Andrew Miller worth a pick up in a no holds point league?

    • Rick Graham says:

Depends on the size of the league and whats available, but he doesn’t need to be owned at this point, unless its a K/9 scoring league.
