Every morning we review the nastiest pitches from the previous day’s games in glorious HD GIFs. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite pitch and check back this weekend to see if it will be in contention for the GIF of the First Half Contest. Did we miss your favorite pitch? Jose Berrios’ Curveball – Berrios has been one of the best pitchers in the minors over the last year or so, and the question was always when he would have a spot in the Twins rotation, not if he would. Well, Berrios broke out in a big way last night with 11 Ks in a spotless outing. This Curveball to Pat Valiaka has great depth as it moves from one side of the plate to the other and lands right on the black.

Danny Duffy’s Slider – Duffy had a great start to the game last night striking out 5 of the first 6 batters he faced. He used his Slider as his strikeout pitch, like the one to Matt Holliday. The pitch looks like a fastball middle-in then breaks down and in leaving Holliday and the rest of the Yankees with no shot last night.

Sonny Gray’s Slider – After a great start to his career Gray had a horrendous 2016 season in which he could not keep hitters from sending the ball over the fence. 2017 wasn’t looking so hot either until last night. Gray used his Slider to great effect against a deep lineup. This bender dropping out of the zone to Hanley Ramirez causes a great reaction from the Red Sox first baseman.

Chad Green’s Fastball – Green lost the 5th starter job this spring to Jordan Montgomery who has done plenty to keep his job. However, Green has showed good velocity coming out of the pen, and while this Fastball to Drew Butera may be a little off the outside corner, it was definitely too close to take.

Marcus Stroman’s Curveball – Stroman will remember this game for his first ever home run, but pitching is still his main job and he does that very well. This Curveball misses the catcher’s spot by a bunch, but has enough break to fool Dansby Swanson and catch the inside corner.
