Notes

  • We have six new additions this week, which include Seth Lugo, Pedro Strop, Jeurys Familia, Ryan Buchter, Jonathan Holder and Kyle Barraclough. Lugo and Strop are both slated to return from the IL this weekend and should figure into the holds/save mix right away. Expect Strop and Steve Cishek to split the closer duties for now.
  • Leaving the list are Adam Morgan, Pat Neshek, Tim Mayza, Robert Stephenson, Ross Stripling, Adam Cimber, and Alex Claudio. Morgan, Neshek and Mayza all hit the IL this past week, while Stephenson and Stripling have struggled while working in non-hold situations. Claudio has double-digit holds, but his ERA is over 6 and he brings nothing to the table in terms of K’s or WHIP either.
  • Only two relievers had three holds this past week, Ryan Pressly and Chaz Roe. Pressly keeps chugging along as the unanimous top set up man in the league, while Roe now has 11 holds and an ERA of 2.20 for the year after a rough April. However, the 1.77 WHIP leaves a lot to be desired, hence the ranking in the low 70’s.

  1. Hold the Door says:

At what point do we start taking Liriano seriously as a S/HLD reliever for this list? 30 Ks and sparkling ratios in 24 relief appearances. And now acquiring 4 Holds since May 7th as the clincher. That has to get Top 100 attention, no??

  2. Mike says:

Jose Alvarado needs to be moved down. He hasn’t been good since the first 2-3 weeks of the season. His walk rate is killing him. Castillo and Pagan eat into his save and hold opportunities. I finally gave up on him this week because he’s been so ineffective.

  3. Bry says:

Sergio Romo deserves better. The entire 40s could be behind Romo tbh.
