Darren O’Day’s Fastball – This beautiful Two-Seamer from O’Day looked to be headed for the middle of the plate before darting in the opposite direction off the outside corner, avoiding Victor Martinez’s bat. Simply gorgeous. (Thanks to Redditor yung_jocp for the tip!)
Clayton Kershaw’s Curveball – Another day, another gorgeous Kershaw hook. His latest victim is Kevin Plawecki who gives us a good squat after failing to pull the trigger. It may not have actually been a strike, but it did get the call and it’s just too beautiful to leave off today’s list.
Chein-Ming Wang’s Fastball – Wang had an appearance against his former team on Thursday evening and struck out one of their bigger bats with a nice frontdoor Fastball. You can see the frustration on Mark Teixeira’s face as he heads back to the dugout. Sidenote: The Royals broadcast sped up the slow-motion unfortunately, but it’s still worth a look. (Thanks to @acsguy for the tip!)
Johnny Cueto’s Changeup – Cueto was in the zone against the Diamondbacks and he was effectively using his Changeup to get whiffs all night. His best may have been this offering to Brandon Drury, earning one of his nine punchouts.
Mike Pelfrey’s Fastball – Pelfrey doesn’t appear on these roundups often, though it wouldn’t be fair to exclude him after throwing this riding Fastball to Joey Rickard.
