Lance McCullers’ Changeup – McCullers threw a career high number of changeups in this game and despite only allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, he came up with the short stick in this pitching duel. McCullers wasn’t short on stuff though and his changeup was working like it was here when it ran in on a helpless Zack Cozart to end the 6th inning.

Adam Ottavino’s Slider – This guy really just gives us easy filler for these write-ups. It’s a rare night when Ottavino doesn’t break out a nasty slider like this one to make hitters like Christian Villanueva looks just plain silly.

Andrew Heaney’s Fastball – Heaney won the pitching duel against Lance McCullers and struck out a career high 10 over 8 innings against a strong Astros offense. He laid this sinker nicely on the inside of the plate, freezing up George Springer on a pretty unhittable pitch.

Sergio Romo’s Slider – Romo’s slider has nice break on both planes with movement to the outside of the plate coupled with a late drop which made this a lethal pitch.

Brian Johnson’s Curveball – Up, then down, then you’re out. This was a beautiful pitch by Johnson to end the top of the 9th.

Chaz Roe’s Slider – Romo and Roe both have some great sliders but they both have different action. In Roe’s case, the break isn’t as dramatic but it has late quick movement which it’s just not fair.

A.J. Minter’s Cutter – The Braves just keep winning like this pitch by A.J. Minter. Good luck making contact with sharp movement like this that runs in on your hands. Not gonna happen.

Justin Hancock’s Slider – A slider like this that runs down and away is a nice finish to a pitch you just aren’t going to catch up with. Strike 3, have a seat.

Adam Ottovino’s slider will always get my vote. That pitch has been downright nasty all year!
