Boy was it a rough night for Lance McCullers owners. Just a week after he had a great effort against the Los Angeles Angels, owners confidently plugged him in against the Rangers and were met with a 0.1 IP, 6 ER, 7 Hits, 1 BBs, 1 Ks effort. In other words, Lance get Felix’ed and there’s nothing you can do about it. However, you shouldn’t be rash and bounce him from your team. He got Singled Out like whoa, and he was killing it until yesterday’s effort. But he was sent down to the minors after the game! Well that’s because the Astros didn’t have anyone to start Tuesday’s game after Mike Fiers had to show up and eat some innings (he didn’t do all much better with 6 ER over 5 innings), so they are sending McCullers down to open a roster spot for a Dan Straily today. McCullers will be back for his next start against Oakland and I’m rolling with him. UPDATE: Okay so now it looks like McCullers will be down for at least 10 days as the team is trying to conserve innings for the youngin’ so he can be in full force down the stretch in September and beyond. It’s annoying, but plan accordingly.
Let’s see what every other SP did yesterday:
David Price – 8.0 IP, 1 ER, 3 Hits, 2 BBs, 11 Ks. There isn’t a single pitcher I have loved and hated more than Price.
Zack Godley – 6.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 Hits, 2 BBs, 6 Ks. It’s sad, really, that this could be Godley’s final start. The Dbacks are planning to either send him to the pen or back to the minors with Chase Anderson set to return shortly. It was a fun ride, buddy.
Bartolo Colon – 8.0 IP, 1 ER, 7 Hits, 0 BBs, 5 Ks. The Big Apple finally has something to celebrate about. This is gonna be a short party, though. No, not that kind of party, I meant it won’t last long.
Nathan Karns – 5.1 IP, 2 ER, 3 Hits, 2 BBs, 7 Ks. He’s creeping up to the Top 50 as he’s had only one start above 2 ER in his last nine outings.
Garrett Richards – 7.1 IP, 4 ER, 4 Hits, 3 BBs, 11 Ks. So he got you dem Ks that you love, but it came with a Price. I thought the Blue Jays had Price. Dammit! I didn’t mean to capitalize that letter.
Jose Quintana – 6.0 IP, 2 ER, 7 Hits, 1 BBs, 7 Ks. There’s the solid floor I like from my Top 40 guy.
Tyler Wilson – 7.2 IP, 2 ER, 6 Hits, 2 BBs, 3 Ks. Don’t go nuts, it’s just a Cup of Schmo.
Francisco Liriano – 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 Hits, 1 BBs, 3 Ks. He was looking great, but rain was the alpha of the night.
Jon Lester – 1.2 IP, 0 ER, 2 Hits, 0 BBs, 3 Ks. Same with Lester. It really was set up to be a fun duel :(
Tyson Ross – 6.0 IP, 2 ER, 7 Hits, 2 BBs, 5 Ks. If you remove the walks, it’s a decent start all around, but the walks screw it all up. Sounds like a Ross blurb alright.
Corey Kluber – 5.2 IP, 5 ER, 10 Hits, 0 BBs, 4 Ks. Sigh. I really don’t want to, but I’m left with no choice but to drop Kluber a spot or two next week.
Ervin Santana – 6.0 IP, 3 ER, 6 Hits, 3 BBs, 2 Ks. Blegh.
Felix Hernandez – 6.2 IP, 4 ER, 11 Hits, 1 BBs, 9 Ks. Well Felix wasn’t the one who got Felix’ed, but he did get Singled Out quite a bit. The Ks are nice, but I’m thinking I may be dropping Felix a bit more next time out, even though I’m well aware this was in Coors.
Doug Fister – 6.0 IP, 5 ER, 8 Hits, 0 BBs, 6 Ks. Please Nationals, don’t be dumb. Just get rid of Fister and keep Ross. You guys are on the verge of getting kicked out of the playoffs due to the surging Mets (weird to type that), and you need someone who’s actually good.
Matt Cain – 5.0 IP, 4 ER, 10 Hits, 1 BBs, 1 Ks. Cain hasn’t been valuable since..2012? Yeesh.
Mike Foltynewicz – 6.0 IP, 6 ER, 9 Hits, 1 BBs, 0 Ks. This makes me super sad. I just want him to do well, you know?
Tom Koehler – 4.1 IP, 6 ER, 7 Hits, 2 BBs, 6 Ks. I don’t have a good reason why Koehler would be rosterable. Sorry Tommy.
Colby Lewis – 6.0 IP, 7 ER, 10 Hits, 1 BBs, 3 Ks. Fortunately for Lewis, McCullers and Fiers were a lot worse.
Eddie Butler – 4.0 IP, 7 ER, 7 Hits, 1 BBs, 2 Ks. Butler has limited upside, pitches his home games at Coors Field, and doesn’t deserve a spot on your team. This should be the blurb for every Colorado starter.
Wily Peralta – 3.1 IP, 6 ER, 8 Hits, 3 BBs, 2 Ks. Peralta isn’t on anyone’s radar, and it’s not because you got jammed. Strawberry Jam….
Jesse Chavez – 3.2 IP, 6 ER, 9 Hits, 2 BBs, 1 Ks. Man, you really can’t trust Chavez at all anymore. Seriously, he was the darling of fantasy writers for a bit, but now he’s just
