Zack Greinke’s Changeup – There’s a little bit of everything in today’s roundup and it starts with Greinke showcasing a Changeup with unreal fade to Johan CamargoThe Brave infielder doesn’t come close to making contact with this pitch as it darted well off the outside corner.

Zack Greinke’s Curveball – We couldn’t resist a second pitch from Greinke as he stunned Tyler Flowers with a huge hook that landed just on the inside corner in the seventh. This is as loopy as they come and it is oh-so satisfying to watch.

Gerrit Cole’s Fastball – Then we have a a painted Fastball with a touch of late life from Cole that nips the outside to freeze Hunter PenceI’ve already watched this GIF over a dozen times and might be the most satisfying pitch of the day.

James Paxton’s Cutter – Paxton has made a major splash this season, solidifying himself as one of the premier arms in the American League. When you’re capable of throwing 93mph Cutters with this much movement, accolades normally follow. (Thanks to Redditor Gunkwei for the tip!)

Jake Junis’ Slider – In the spirit of today’s grab-bag flavor, now we have a behind-the-plate view of Junis’ Slider that shows its hard break to Victor Martinez. If you’re like me, you love getting another perspective on what batters are dealing with on a daily basis.

Jacob deGrom’s Fastball – deGrom isn’t known for great Fastball life, but he was feeling it yesterday and started the game with a great 96mph heater to send Jose Pirela back to the dugout. (Thanks to Redditor greybro for the tip!)

Roberto Osuna’s Cutter – Now we have a batter looking foolish on a pitch from Osuna as Marcus Semien jumped out of the way of this Cutter that bent back over the heart of the plate for a called strike three. It’s one thing to earn a backwards K and fool a batter. It’s another to make him jump on the pitch. And it’s another to make him jump back on a pitch that finishes in the middle of the zone.

Justin Verlander’s Slider – Lastly there’s this Verlander Slider that got plenty of drop to fall underneath Mike Moustakas‘ bat for the strikeout. And yes, I mean plenty.

  1. Nick says:

Paxton looks so easy out there. Ball explodes out of his hand.

  2. Matt Nielsen says:

Ah, cutter. I can never seem to properly identify those.

  3. Slothrop says:

so that’s what Semien’s at bats look like. can finally put a face to those useless stats.
