Vince Velasquez’s Curveball – Velasquez was money against the Giants on Thursday, striking out 12 in six innings of work. He set the tone with this punch out of Nick Hundley in the first inning, getting him to waive at a nasty curveball just below the bottom of the zone.

Eduardo Rodriguez’s Cutter – Even though it was called a strike, Tyler Austin was wise to pull back on this swing, as he certainly would have needed new lumber if he’d made any contact. Rodriguez racked up 12 K’s on Thursday in one of his best starts of the year.

Miles Mikolas‘ Curveball – Mikolas was solid again on Thursday, giving up one run in 6 1/3 innings of work. His 12-6 curve has continued to baffle opponents this season, and Chase Headley was the latest victim.

Mike Foltynewicz’s Fastball – Man oh man. 98 on the outside black? Martin Prado has been around long enough to know that nothing good can come out of that. Best course of action is to hope it fooled the umpire too. No such luck here.

Luiz Gohara’s Slider – Gohara got a chance to work multiple innings in a blowout on Thursday and struck out two in three innings of work. One of them was on this knee buckling slider thrown in on J.T Realmuto, who nearly swung out of his shorts trying to make contact.

Garrett Richards‘ Curveball – Richards brought out his yo-yo curveball on Thursday, tossing this pitch ‘nose to toes’ against poor Max Kepler, who had no chance of catching up to that ball as it dove to the ground.
