Following up on our weekly Closers and Holds articles will be our Top 100 RP’s for SV+HD leagues every Friday. Use this list to get a feel for the current reliever market and to gauge value for trades, waiver adds, etc. Keep in mind, holds are much more volatile and harder to predict. We’ve only seen one season from a pitcher with more than 30 holds since 2016, while 26 closers have gone over 30 saves in that same timeframe.

NOTE: The trade deadline is keeping these rankings very fluid so expect some major changes next week when hopefully the list will start stabilizing.
- Ryan Tepera and Luke Gregerson return to the list this week following their respective DL stints. Also joining/rejoining the list are Brad Brach, Juan Minaya, Adam Mogan, Richard Rodriguez and Juan Nicasio.
- We lost a total of 7 relievers this week, mostly due to injuries such as Sean Doolittle, Brandon Morrow, Arodys Vizcaino and Edubray Ramos, while Joe Kelly, Emilio Pagan, and Sam Dyson were also bumped off the list.
- Over the past two weeks (or one and a half technically) we only had four relievers with 4 SV+HD’s this week. Those would be Lou Trivino, Archie Bradley, Adam Ottavino and Blake Treinen. Despite the 4 holds, Bradley was pretty terrible over that stretch (12.46 ERA, 1.62 WHIP) but he was not alone in that Diamondbacks bullpen as both Brad Boxberger and Yoshi Hirano have had their own struggles lately. With growing speculation that Keone Kela is the next closer on the move, and despite the reports that the Pirates are the favorites to land him, look for the Diamondbacks to up their offer in order to get a deal done.
Chad Green’s fall more to do with poorer performance recently or with changing role after the Britton acquisition?
Both. He hasn’t that same dominant reliever as last year and now with Britton in the mix, I don’t see him with more than a handful of holds the rest of the season.
Nice – thanks. Agreed, without the dominance, he’s not too worthy given that he hasn’t been a high-hold guy anyway.
Devenski seems to have hit a wall. He dropped in the ranks a good amount. He isn’t being used as much as last year. I don’t know if it is contributing to his decline. So based on your ranks, you like Minter, Herrera or even W Smith more than Devo ros? Are you ranking just purely s+h or are factoring in the total mix k, era, whip, etc. Thanks
Everything is factored in, but in general, I will trust someone who is in the closers role over a set up man. They just tend to get more chances.
taking saves/holds out of the equation and solely basing this list on K per 9, ERA and WHIP, where would Colin McHugh slot in?
51 IP, 68 K’s, 1.05 ERA and 0.72 WHIP
Probably top 10-12. It’s really just the lack of SV/HD potential weighing him down.
