Following up on our weekly Closers and Holds articles will be our Top 100 RP’s for SV+HD leagues every Friday. Use this list to get a feel for the current reliever market and to gauge value for trades, waiver adds, etc. Keep in mind, holds are much more volatile and harder to predict. We’ve only seen one season from a pitcher with more than 30 holds since 2016, while 26 closers have gone over 30 saves in that same timeframe.
NOTES
- Joining or re-joining the list this week was Mark Melancon, Anthony Swarzak, Hector Rondon, Joakim Soria, Adam Cimber, Michael Lorenzen, Reyes Moronta, Justin Wilson and Bruce Rondon.
- We had a bunch of names leave the list this week. Cam Bedrosian, Kevin McCarthy, Chris Martin, Zach Duke, Paul Sewald, Will Smith, Bryan Shaw, Edgar Santana and Pedro Baez all fell off the list while Tony Cingrani was removed due to continue shoulder discomfort.
- Joakim Soria was the lone reliever to have 4 SV+HD’s this week, while 6 others had 3. It’s been a nice comeback of late for Soria after losing (and now regaining) his job as the White Sox closer and has actually put together a nice month here. He’s back to being the reliever to own in that bullpen, but still consider the situation volatile for the time being.
Hey Rick, thanks for doing this each week. Where do you think Britton slots in once he’s back in the closer role?
Back end of tier 2, 10-15 area. It won’t happen right away but eventually he’ll get there.
I traded Treinen for Jansen a couple weeks ago after seeing Jansen’s velo on his cutter return to normal. As great as Treinen has been, I wanted to go with the closer that has the better track record. Good move?
Also, who do you like better ROS for saves and ratios – Treinen or Allen? My concern with Treinen is if the A’s trade him and his new team doesn’t utilize him as the sole closer.
Yea I think anytime you can get Jansen in a 1 for 1 deal giving up another reliever its a win.
I still like Treinen over Allen but it’s pretty close. I don’t see the A’s moving Treinen this year and right now they are in the playoff hunt.
would you snatch Osuna from the FA list??
Nothing at this point suggests he will be back anytime soon so I’d probably hold off. I dont think we see him til September, at the earliest.
What’s your thoughts on Adam Conley from the marlins? Does he have enough value in sv/hd leagues?
