The List 9/12: All ROS Schedules For The Top 100 Starting Pitchers

What is happening. I’m continuing last week’s shift in format as I’m ranking the Top 100 Starting Pitchers for the rest of the season while including their estimated ROS schedule. Check out this article for a refresher on how this is being done, and now let’s look at an updated strength of schedule table as I’ve made a few changes – remember, I’ve sorted teams into five tiers of Top, Good, Average, Weak, and Bottom.

Alright, with those in mind, here is the final edition of The List for the 2017 season:

Notes

• It’s the final three weeks and this List loses more and more meaning, marking the final edition of the season. Next week will be sit-or-starts only.
• With such little time left, the importance here are matchups with the latter half of the List, with overall ability in the first third or so. Trading is off the table and few waiver wire picks are in the Top 60, making it mostly a “I trust these guys the most” in the top third, turning into “I trust these guys the most against these teams” as we move further down.
• By the back end of this…it gets really messy. With such a small sample size, it’s incredibly difficult to properly rank these available arms, as while I could like a pitcher more than another, everything can go up in flames in one given night. The best solution for everyone is to play the matchups in your scenario best, and ask questions. A lot of questions.
• Collin McHugh and Jake Arrieta are stashed at the bottom with Noah Syndergaard and David Price, though they have more value than the latter two. Don’t quit on them just yet.
• Specifically about players, Tyler Glasnow, Dillon Peters, and Carson Fulmer have been added this week. Glasnow got the call and while I don’t trust that he’s all of sudden cured from the command issues he’s had all his career, he makes for an intriguing upside play. Peters has a solid Curveball without the horrid Fastball that Sean Newcomb carries, making him a possible streaming option ahead. Fulmer showed off what he can do with some decent command over the weekend and while I doubt we’re at a new plateau for him, there’s potential for value that some may be overlooking.
• Amir Garrett and Robert Gsellman also returned after a long hiatus. Gsellman isn’t the exciting arm he was back in March, but he’s been somewhat productive for the Mets and could squeak out a good start or two down the stretch. Garrett flexed improved velocity in his return and could avoid his control issues to return a few favorable outings.
• Many names left The List this week, including Danny Salazar (demotion), Carlos Rodon (injury), Andrew Heaney (injury), Luis Castillo (shutdown), Jimmy Nelson (injury), Aaron Sanchez (injury), and A.J. Griffin (overall a bad option).
