It’s that time again. The time when The List as a Top 100 ranking table is completely gone and replaced with a massive two-week Sit/Start table.

I know, it’s sad. The biggest help I can give all of you right now is a guide through the Sit/Start and tell you which starts to avoid and which to chase.

I’ll have a section at the end to discuss good and bad matchups the rest of the way, where I’d consider or avoid certain pitchers even if their skill set suggests otherwise.

Good luck and the next true edition of The List will return on October 8th as I put out my “Way-Too-Early 2019 Top 100” Rankings.

Notes

  • Chris Stratton and Derek Holland both get the Padres twice while Holland also gets the Dodgers. Nice.
  • Vince Velasquez hasn’t been able to handle the Marlins twice + the Mets in his last three starts. Now he gets the Braves twice and Coors? No thanks.
  • I’m not sure how I feel about Dereck Rodriguez’s matchups down the stretch, but if you own him it’s hard to bench him.
  • It’s so hard to give Luis Severino a pair of “Sits” yet that’s what happens when you get the Red Sox twice
  • The final schedule for Mike Minor and Joe Musgrove are solid enough that they should be ridden through to the end.
  • Even with four innings coming up for Chris Sale, there’s zero reason to not let him start. Those innings will help. If you have a start limit, feel free to wait until his second start to let him fly as he won’t get a chance for a Win this week.
  • A sneaky value play is Matt Boyd getting three decent starts the rest of the way. We could be talking about his second half all winter.
  • I had a hard time debating what to do with Tyler Anderson as he could be turning a corner, making him a decent Hail Mary play. He could also regress quickly and turn those “maybe” spots into “Sit” next week.

      Yeah, I don’t think that sample is enough for me to get behind him. Two starts doesn’t make me overlook the rest of the season.

    Currently I have it:

    Starting: Kluber, Syndergaard, Corbin, Wheeler, Marquez. RP’s are Kimbrel, Buehler and Musgrove

    Bench: Flaherty, Castillo, Odorizzi, Treinen, Pivetta

    I figured Lucchesi would start on the 24th and Berrios on the 26th. Do they have 6-men rotations or something else going on? Also, does Gray’s clunker against LAD last night change your mind about starting him in his remaining two against ARI and WAS? Seems droppable at this point. Thanks for the great work.

      The last week of baseball season is becoming week 17 in the NFL as some teams are resting their starters. It needs to be omitted from the fantasy playoffs.
