Every Monday during the season, I will be releasing “The List” where I rank the current value of the Top 100 pitchers in fantasy baseball for the rest of the season. Use these rankings to help understand what to expect from pitchers for 2017 and as a tool to gauge trade value in your fantasy leagues. Note: These rankings have been made with H2H 5×5 12-teamers in mind. Also, these rankings do not take into account May 29th’s games.

Notes
- Some major changes in the Top 30, with David Price returning from the DL and many preseason “studs” just not living up to their name. Meanwhile, guys like Marco Estrada, Luis Severino, and Michael Pineda are all having exceptional success and deserve to be inside the Top 20. You still need to believe guys like Justin Verlander and Johnny Cueto can get their footing back, but as far as their stock is concerned, they have to be demoted to the mid 20s for now.
- Tyler Anderson makes a large climb as he’s been expressing some excellent strikeout numbers across his last four starts. There’s no question he’s the #2 guy in Colorado right now.
- The news is out that Danny Salazar is heading to the bullpen for now, making his value drop tremendously. It’s certainly possible he returns shortly, but he can be dropped if you need a starter in your lineup.
- I had no choice but to knock Joe Ross multiple pegs as he couldn’t handle the San Diego Padres. There’s potential here, though it’s hard to invest in him providing consistency to your staff.
- The Astros have elected to put Brad Peacock in the rotation to replace the ineffective Mike Fiers and the former has been showcasing beautiful whiff rates that could translate into a solid 12 teamer add, making him enter the list in the Top 65.
- Also joining the ranks this week are Junior Guerra, Jharel Cotton, Dinelson Lamet, Derek Holland, and Jimmy Nelson. Cotton and Lamet have entered from the minors and are upside plays, Holland – despite being a poster child for TEEs can be owned until The Dutch Invasion shows up, Nelson is a coin flip upside play, and Guerra could provide some value if he can be anywhere close to his rookie 2016 campaign.
- Leaving The List this week are Jesse Hahn, Drew Smyly, J.A. Happ, Kendall Graveman, Patrick Corbin, and Ariel Miranda. The first four are all on the DL while Corbin’s “new arm slot” hasn’t rendered positive results. Miranda was a fringe add on The List and more exciting options have pushed him out.
JA Happ coming off DL and scheduled to start tomorrow vs Reds. Where would you rank him ROS?

What do you make of the Duffy injury? Is he droppable in 8 and 10 team leagues? I have him in both and my DL spots are filled with the likes of Matz, Bedrosian, Hamels, and Dahl.
I’d rather drop Bedrosian before Duffy.
He’ll still be an asset for your playoffs when he does return.
Little surprised by your Clevinger bullishness…. can you share more detailed thoughts?
I wouldn’t really call myself that bullish on Clevinger. I think we can all understand his upside and given the meh options past starting in the 50s, I’d rather chase that upside.
Lynn, Shoemaker, Hill, Maeda have all shown upside this year and in the past (much greater track record). I think this is off.
I think they all have warts and I’d rather take the chance on Clevinger standing out above them.
Hill’s injury history + seven walks – seven walks! – is making me reconsider why we deal with his headache.
Maeda has had the same ebb and flow with a questionable IPS and his spot in the rotation has been in flux.
Lynn has been pretty hit-and-miss and the full upside of him is not Top 25 but more like Top 35.
Shoemaker is so inconsistent it hurts.
They’re all really close and it depends what kind of bet you want to make. In most 12 teamers, those guys would be near the bottom of my staff. Give me the one with the clearest path to upside and take steps forward in development.

Hey Nick, great insight as usual. For any doubters, I have had top pitching 3 years in a row and I always draft my pitchers late. This year 12 teamer – I got De Grom , Sanchez , Price, Paxton, Nola, Taillon, Lynn, Gausman and JC Ram.
I was wondering as my 9-10, who would you want going forward?
JC Ram, Karns, Morton, Biagini or Urias?

I followed your advice and started Manaea. Great grab off waivers to replace an injured Duffy and Wood. I’ve been hanging on to Gausman but Salazar just became available. Time to cut bait and pick up Salazar?
Is there someone else? I’m not much of a fan of Gaus or Salazar at this point.
Someone just dropped Aaron Nola and I’m tempted to pick him up. I know you’re high on him (#19 on the PL), but what gives you such optimism. The guys currently has an ERA above 5, only 29k’s in 6 starts, and 2 wins since he’s on such a bad team. His peripherals suggest things could get better, but do you think he’s going to stay that top 20 guy in terms of fantasy?
