Three is the Magic Number
Have a day…again…Jesse Winker! For the second time this season, the Reds outfielder hit three home runs in a game. He is now, remarkably, just one behind the Major League Baseball record of three set by Sammy Sosa in 2001. Winker previously went yard three times against the Brewers on May 21st. He got things going last night with a deep shot to right-center field off Cardinals starter, John Gant, who had only allowed one homer all year.

Winker then made it back-to-back plate appearances with a home run, sending Gant back to the same spot with a monster hit. That three-run blast in the second inning made it 5-0, with Winker responsible for all 5 runs. Amazing!

Winker must have been dismayed by the fact that when he came to the plate again in the top of the ninth inning the game was tied 7-7. He quickly changed that!
JESSE WINKER ARE YOU SERIOUS?!? 🤯
His THIRD home run of the game lifts the @Reds back on top!! pic.twitter.com/5mizPapAo8

Lucas Sims kept the Cardinals off the board in the bottom of the ninth meaning the Reds swept the four-game series against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium (their first in over 30 years). Winker also surpassed his career-best for home runs in a season – he now has 17 and it is only June 6th! How good is that?! The man is riding high right now…

Spiderman Needs New Web
It was all hands on deck in Philadelphia today as the protective netting behind home plate fell down during the eighth inning causing a 20-minute delay. Only in baseball.
Well, we’ve seen it all today. The protective netting behind home plate and along the base lines collapsed and the Phillies-Nationals game is in a delay. pic.twitter.com/U1jQBTkXnY

Hats off to the ground crew and what looked like everyone seated behind the plate for helping out and getting the game restarted.
Safe to say social media did its job in covering every angle.
21st century baseball with 19th century netting. There’s gotta be a better way. #Nationals-Phillies pic.twitter.com/PHFBr0IEXu

Triple Play Alert!
Good things always come in threes! The Minnesota Twins have had a wretched season so far, particularly on the defensive side of the ball…cough…Miguel Sanó…cough, but they turned a beauty yesterday with a 3-6-4 triple play!
Just a good ol' fashioned 3-6-4 triple play. pic.twitter.com/21eclGbJgJ

Yermín! – The Brand
We all remember the famous burger created on the South Side of Chicago in honor of Yermín Mercedes‘ phenomenal start to the season. Well, the man himself came out representing the brand yesterday with one of the most fabulous haircuts you’ll ever see. There’s no vanity in baseball, just cool. “Barber, I’ll have the Yermín, please!”
brb, heading to our barber and telling them to give us the Yermín. pic.twitter.com/GH4HK4B6Qz

Red Sox on Aisle Six!
The historic rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees hit another level last night – the Trolley Level! After a big win in extras (after some less than impressive umpiring), the Red Sox celebrated in a truly unique fashion in the dugout.

Pocket That One
In what surely is a baseball first, the home plate umpire makes one of the best grabs ever using his…shirt pocket?
we watch a decent amount of baseball, but we’ve NEVER seen this happen before.
