The 5 Best MLB Moments from Thursday

Bonks, honks, and web gems from Thursday's MLB action.

NFL Draft who? Thursday, just like every day, is a day for baseball! And, while we had a fairly limited slate of games yesterday, there were still plenty of exciting events to go around.

Marcell Ozuna’s Home Run Celly

Unfortunately, Bally Sports has me beat on the punny caption. But, at least I could develop a better score ticker, so there’s that.

When the next session of Baseball Congress meets, I want it written into law that unique home run celebrations are highly encouraged!

BONK

“Here’s the pitch to Kiner-Falefa… And he hits a drive, deep to center field, going back on it is Enrique Hernandez! Hernandez at the wall…”

Hernandez, I think, was trying to do his best Rodney McCray impression. Unfortunately, the walls at Globe Life Field are simply not built to be run through, and Hernandez took himself quite the L. No worries, since he appears to be okay, although I would assume his pride is bruised after that one.

Trevor Bauer Avoids Interference

We all felt for Zack Godley after he fell victim to some classic bad umpiring. Trevor Bauer definitely wanted to avoid any chance of getting Godley-d.

Moments like this really do make my job as a writer more fun. I’m just happy both teams are having a good time.

? WEB GEM ?

Look, if this catch doesn’t make it into the top 10 plays of the MLB season, I’m going to be very, very upset. This is an incredible catch by Sean Murphy to “end” the 8th inning:

Too bad it didn’t even count!

Thanks to the good ol’ catwalks at the Trop, Murphy’s incredible effort to catch the ball with the umpire in his face (Rays bias, much?), the ball blending in with the roof, and a last-second juggle to keep the ball in his hands, ended up being all for naught, as it was ruled a “foul ball out of play.”

Honk! Honk!

No context needed. I hope we are all still doing this near trucks, even as adults.
