The 4 Nastiest Pitches From Monday

The Postseason is in full swing—here's yesterday's filthiest pitches.

Every morning, the We Love Baseball crew reviews the Nastiest Pitches from the previous day’s games in glorious high-definition GIFs. We want to bring you the highest caliber of nastiness possible, so if you see a nasty pitch, please tell us about it. You can tweet @PitcherList to let us know and we’ll give you a shout-out here in the article if your tip makes the cut.

As a bonus for PL+ members, let us know about a pitch on the PL+ Discord in the Nasty Pitches Channel, and if your suggestion is included the next day, you’ll be entered into a weekly drawing for a free T-shirt!

Eduardo Rodriguez’s Slider

Eduardo Rodriguez was given an early nine-run cushion by the Red Sox offense. He pitched decently over six innings, as he struck out seven while allowing three runs. Here he struck out Yordan Alvarez on a filthy slider that breaks out of the zone on the Astros DH.

José Urquidy’s Curveball

It was a night to forget for José Urquidy who couldn’t make it through the second inning. Urquidy was able to fire off exactly one strikeout but this 2-1 curveball to Christian Arroyo was easily his nastiest pitch of the night.

Ryne Stanek’s Splitter

Ryne Stanek came in relief in a lost game for the Astros. He pitched an inning and was able to strike out two hitters. Both pitches were filthy but this splitter to Danny Santana was his nastiest of the night.

Hirokazu Sawamura’s Splitter

Lastly today, we’ve got Hirokazu Sawamura and this devastating splitter. Just an absolute monster of a pitch from Sawamura to Alex Bregman. 94 mph and it perfectly sums up how the night went for Boston.
