Every morning we review the five best pitches from the previous day’s playoff games in glorious HD GIFs. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite pitch and check back when we review the best pitches for the divisional series next week. Did we miss your favorite pitch? Send us a tweet next time @ThePitcherList and we’ll GIF it up + give you a shoutout here in the article.

Steven Matz’s Curveball #1 – Matz did his part in the Mets’ clincher as he allowed just one earned run in 4.2 innings Wednesday evening. He threw some excellent pitches, including this Curveball to Starlin Castro that struck him out despite hitting the Cubs middle infielder in the foot. (Thanks to Reddit user Dr****MD for the tip!)

Steven Matz’s Curveball #2 – We couldn’t feature just one hook from Matz as this bender to end the first inning also made us smile as Kris Bryant’s swing wasn’t even close. (Thanks to Reddit user sbblakey777 for the tip!)

Pedro Strop’s Slider – Despite loading up the bases, Strop escaped the jam and made some great pitches along the way. He got his second out of the inning with this well placed Slider that dives down-and-in to Kelly Johnson.

Edinson Volquez’s Fastball – Volquez couldn’t shut the door on the Blue Jays, but he started strong painting this 98 MPH heater against a stunned Josh Donaldson in the first inning. For those wondering,

Fernando Rodney’s Changeup – Before allowing Daniel Murphy’s 7th HR of the postseason, Rodney struck out the first two batters he faced with this nasty Changeup. Watch it fade off the plate to Curtis Granderson and wonder how he allowed any runs Wednesday night.
