Sit/Start Week 25: Reviewing All Starting Pitcher Matchups From 9/24 – 9/30

Here's a giant table of every starting pitcher matchup for Week 25, telling you which pitchers should get in your lineup or stick on your bench.

Every Sunday here at Pitcher List, I review all expected starting pitcher matchups for the week ahead. There are three labels: StartMaybe, and Sit. Outings marked with a Maybe are circumstantial and dependent on your needs in a standard 5×5 Wins 12-teamer, while the other two are self-explanatory. Feel free to question my designations in the comments and we’ll dive into it together.

Here’s the massive table containing every Week 25 start from 9/24 – 9/30:

  1. Peter says:

    Nick,

I need to choose 6 of the following 8 options for this week.

    – Clevinger (KC)
    – Carrasco. (?)
    – Grienke (LAD)
    – Marquez (PHI)
    – Buehler (ARI)
    – Castillo (PIT)
    – F.Pena (TEX +)
    – Eovaldi (BAL +)

+ For Pena and Eovaldi, I can start them today and pick someone off of waivers tonight and get a second start. (i.e. Toussaint, Josh James, Montgomery, Alcantara) (some of these would have a chance of getting me a third start … but that’s difficult to count on)

What do you think? Drop Carrasco? Is that crazy?

    • Nick Pollack says:

I’d drop Pena and maybe Greinke.

I first wanted to say Carrasco, but him coming in after Bauer = great chance at a Win, and he could easily get 5+ innings.

Pretty close between the two of them, though.

  2. Rick says:

    Nick,
Can you help me pick 4 of these 6 options (QS league)?
    1. Holland v. SD
    2. Sale v. NYY
    3. Bumgarner v. SD
    4. Greinke v. LAD
    5. Clevinger v. KC
    6. Toussant v. NYM

You think Cleveland might shorten Clevinger’s start in prep for playoffs?
    Thanks.

    • Nick Pollack says:

      Wow. Love all of these.

Drop Holland and Toussaint. If you’re worried about the QS from Sale (he probably won’t get one as he won’t last six frames), then keep Toussaint.

      • Rick says:

Thanks. Head spinning. I was pretty sure you’d prefer Holland over Bumgarner with both going against SD. I’m worried about that Dodger’s offense too. Tough calls.

  3. Michael says:

Why is Alcantara a double ‘START’? Did your opinion change about something? In your Two-Start Pitchers for Week 25 you had his starts under the ‘Questionable’ tier.

    • Nick Pollack says:

Good question. His first start against the Nationals could easily be a “Maybe”, but I essentially wanted to express that if you’re going for it, I ultimately think you’re okay going with Sandy in that first start and definitely against the Mets.

In the Two-Start article, I’m often a little more conservative, if that makes sense. I guess I could just label that Nats start a “Maybe” and make things clearer.

  4. tiger says:

how would you rank these guys for this week in a pts league? thanks.
    sabathia,holland,stripling,stratton,godley,morton

  5. Erli Zhou says:

Can you rank the below starts in a standard points league(W/L matters):
    Touki Toussaint @ NYM
    Josh James @ TOR
    Matt Boyd @ MIN
    Kyle Gibson vs CHW
    Jose Urena @ NYM
    Trevor Richards @ NYM
    Thanks!
