Shane Greene’s Slider – Greene has a firm hold on the Tiger’s closer role and took advantage last night, closing the door on the White Sox. He threw plenty of filthy pitches including this slider that demoralized Leury Garcia, inducing a whiff on a pitch that nearly hit him.

Stephen Strasburg’s Changeup – We haven’t seen vintage Strasburg quite yet, and even though 4 earned runs are in the book after Thursday’s affair with the Mets, he still showed up what’s in the tank. His best pitch may his changeup, which took down Yoneis Cespedes to end the opening frame.

Andrew Cashner’s Fastball – To the surprise of many, Cashner went into the Bronx and earned himself a Win, allowing just one ER in six innings. He worked the corners well and froze a few batters, including Tyler Wade with a fantastic comeback heater.

Robbie Ray’s Slider – It’s no secret that Ray’s slider misses bats and heading on the road allowed us to get a great angle on its fantastic movement. Check out the slide piece bend swerving across the entire plate to dive underneath Paul DeJongs’ bat.

Masahiro Tanaka’s Splitter – While Tanaka would have loved to limit the Orioles to under three runs, he still struck out 7 while throwing fewer than 20 fastballs. His splitter is getting more attention as a result, and you can’t disagree with his choice as it gets terrible swings like this one from Chance Sisco.

James Paxton’s Cutters – After struggling in his opening outing, Paxton stepped up his game against the Twins, hitting 97-98 constantly. When not throwing gas, he tosses 91mph cutters, which carved up Miguel Sano on back-to-back pitches in the first inning. Simply filthy.

Nick Pivetta’s Curveball – Pivetta had himself a day, fanning nine Marlins batters without surrendering a walk. His breaking stuff was as good as we’ve seen it, with our favorite coming against Cameron Maybin via a hook with a ton of depth.
