At the expense of his four-seamer, Harris upped the use of his cutter in 2018 to 57.7% (42.1% in 2017). It featured a modest swinging-strike rate of 9.1% and had less fortunate batted-ball results in 2018, allowing a wOBA of .324 and batting average of .282 (as opposed to .284 wOBA and .230 batting average in 2017).

Harris’ put away pitch, the curve, was once again a big time swing-and-miss pitch in 2018 with an excellent 21.6% swinging-strike rate. It was also great at inducing swings out of the zone, with a 43.9% chase rate. It was an excellent pitch that stymied hitters to a .133 wOBA and .132 batting average, good for a 7.8 pVal in 2018.

Harris all but axed his four-seamer in 2018, cutting its use from 26.6% in 2017 down to just 4.7% in 2018. It averaged 92.6 mph and allowed a wOBA of .345 in a small 42-pitch sample.
