By far Cingrani’s most effective and most used pitch, his fastball surprisingly generates a 13.5% swing and miss rate. He also has gained good control of the pitch walking under five percent of hitters. Cingrani was also able to keep the ball in the park, something he greatly struggled with in 2017. It is a good pitch but may need more variety to keep up its production.
Cingrani is essentially a two-pitch pitcher, but only throws his slider 20% of the time. It is not effective enough to throw more often yet he does get batters to swing and miss a 22% rate.
Cingrani rarely throws his changeup. This may be as he rarely throws it for a strike. He’ll have to gain control of this pitch to throw it more often.
