Feierabend is one of the rare knuckleballers remaining in today’s game. His knuckleball averages just under 75 mph and of course is upredictable. It generates ground balls and weak contact but the mistakes get punished.
The fastball is Feierabend’s number one secondary offering. Averaging under 86 mph, the fastball doesn’t induce many whiffs and was hit very hard in a limited sample in 2019.
Feierabend only threw his changeup seven times in 2019. It’s thrown at a similar veloicty to the knuckleball but with different shape. Feierabend will lieky require a fourth pitch to create a third veloicty band in order to be successful.
