Dobnak throws two types of fastball: A four-seamer and a sinker. He had great success with the four-seamer, ending the season with a BAA of .208 and a wOBA of .220. He was also very accurate with it, throwing 71% of them for a strike and allowing only two walks in 26 plate appearances. However, he did struggle a bit with his sinker, as batters hit .304 against it. Luckily though, only two of the 14 hits he gave up with it went for extra bases.
The slider was Dobnak’s go-to strikeout pitch, as he accumulated by far the most of all his pitches with 14. He held batters to an average of .222 and did not allow a single walk thanks to a very good 70% strike rate.
Dobnak was very efficient with his changeup in 2019, giving up only two hits (both singles) in 13 at-bats and creating a lot of weakly-hit balls. Batters had an average exit velocity of only 81 mph in 11 batted-ball events.
