Graves had good vertical movement on his four-seamer, helping him produce lots of harmless fly balls with it. Though he lacked velocity on and control of the pitch, it produced a decent .263 average against.
Graves’ slider falls somewhere between a slider and cutter by movement. It produced grounders at a 55% rate with a modest amount of whiffs, but it allowed a 111 wRC+ against it in 2018.
The curveball got demolished in 2018, allowing a 264 wRC+ and .850 slugging percentage to opposing hitters, thanks in part to the fact that it surrendered line drives at a 53.8% clip.
Graves’ two-seamer showed good arm-side run and drop, helping it produce an excellent 64% ground-ball rate. Opponents produced a 126 wRC+ against the pitch, though.
