Just some thoughts on Mondesi from watching basically all his AB’s.
He swings and misses SO much and it’s pretty ridiculous. However, he consistently punishes mistakes even in AB’s where all the pitcher has to do is throw another ball in the dirt.
It almost seems like swinging and missing doesn’t get affect his confidence at all because he stays ready.
I think he’s going to continue to EAT.
Both Garcia and Mondesi avoid an obscene strikeout rate despite an obscene SwStr% by swinging a lot so they put the ball in play more often before the count gets to two strikes, i.e., the Javy Baez approach to plate discipline.
