Nick Pivetta’s Curveball – Pivetta’s curveball was its usual devastating self on Thursday, here picking up a huge whiff from veteran Martin Prado. Prado was one of Pivetta’s seven strikeout victims in another solid start for the young right-hander.

Miles Mikolas‘ Slider – 90 mile per hour pitches should not have this kind of movement. While it’s not too hard to get Trevor Story swinging out of his shoes, this offering from Mikolas was particularly brutal. Good riddance.

Mike Foltynewicz’s Fastball – Here’s a tasty 98 mile per hour gas can from Folty that runs a ridiculous amount down and in to Jose Bautista. This pitch is borderline untouchable, and was the nastiest of Folty’s five strikeouts on the day.

Max Scherzer’s Curveball – The one they call Scooter was forced to take a knee and marvel at this wicked curveball from Scherzer, that dropped right off the face of the earth for strike three.

Blake Parker’s Splitter – Parker is a rare closer without exceptional velocity. He gets by with nasty movement, like this split-finger that falls off a cliff and away from the bat of rookie Jake Bauers.

Andrew Heaney’s Curveball – Heaney fanned five Rays on Thursday, although an unfortunate fourth inning did him in. His loopy curveball was money all night, here getting a big whiff from former teammate CJ Cron.
