Mets Call Up Top Prospect

The Mets are promoting top catching prospect, Francisco Álvarez, ahead of the series with Atlanta. According to MLB Pipeline, Alvarez is the No. 1 prospect in baseball.

The Blue Jays Clinch Playoff Spot

For the second time in three years, the Blue Jays have clinched a spot for postseason baseball. This came after the Orioles lost to the Red Sox yesterday. The Blue Jays are still in a close race to secure the AL’s first wild-card spot alongside the Rays and Mariners.

Phillies Tie Brewers

The Phillies are on a five-game skid and are tied for the NL’s last wildcard berth. Both the Phillies and Brewers are tied at 83-72.

“We’re still in it,” said Bryce Harper. “We have seven games left. We’ve got a road ahead of us, but we’ve got to keep playing, got to keep going, not having a mindset about losing and thinking about that.

The Phillies have not had a playoff berth since 2011.

Ford Proctor hit his first career home run, and it just so happened to be a grand slam.

Mark Payton got his first Major League RBI and helped the White Sox end their seven-game losing streak. Payton has been in and out of the majors for three years.

Injuries

Trevor Story is dealing with an illness and is unlikely to play again this season.

Connor Joe was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right serratus strain.

Willi Castro will miss the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury.

Mickey Moniak was placed on the injured list with a hand injury, ending his season.
