Every morning we review the nastiest pitches from the previous day’s games in glorious HD GIFs. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite pitch and check back this weekend to see if it will be in contention for the GIF of the First Half Contest. Did we miss your favorite pitch? Send us a tweet next time @ThePitcherList and we’ll GIF it up + give you a shoutout here in the article.

Luis Severino’s Fastball – Severino was all kinds of filthy against the White Sox on Tuesday, racking up twelve strikeouts through seven impressive frames. Our favorite may have been with this Fastball that had a life of its own, fanning Matt Davidson as the ball seemingly rose up-and-in at a blistering 98mph.

Luis Severino’s Slider – We just couldn’t settle on one pitch from yesterday’s performance, as Severino’s slide piece was equally devasting as well. Check out its excellent bite along the outside corner as the young stud fanned Tim Anderson in the seventh frame.

Aaron Nola’s Fastball – These pitches have become commonplace for Nola at this point, but I will enjoy watching them each and every time he throws them. He just gets so much movement with his Two-Seamer where he can stun batters like Ben Gamel every night he pitches.

Sean Newcomb’s Curveball – The one area where scouts said Newcomb excelled at was strikeout ability and he displayed it with flying colors against the Padres Tuesday evening as he fanned eight batters through six innings. His Curveball gets most of the attention and had Barry Zito-esque break as it fell under Manuel Margot’s bat. (Thanks to  and Redditor JonesOwnz for the tip!)

Jeff Hoffman’s Fastball – Hoffman had an evening outside of Coors and took advantage of it as he faced the Giants. He set-up this perfectly placed Fastball with three straight Curveballs prior, leaving Gorkys Hernandez stunned as its late life brought it back to the corner.

James Paxton’s Curveball – The worries of a Paxton slump should be eradicated by his last two starts, including his nine strikeout effort against the Phillies on Tuesday. He got off to a great start, punching out two in the first including Howie Kendrick with a Curveball that disappears at the last moment.

Blake Treinen’s Fastball – We featured a Treinen Fastball in yesterday’s roundup, but we just couldn’t resist another as he unleashed another ridiculous pitch against Javy Baez. No pitch should have that much drop at 96mph.

What always impresses me about pitches like Severino’s 98mph fastball is the Umps. Thats 98mph with pretty badly missed location that is tailing directly at his neck, no flinch. I guess you get numb to it after awhile, but still.
