Justin Verlander’s Curveball – Verlander has been an absolute stud in the second and concluded his 2017 season with a stellar performance against the Rangers. He escaped an early jam with breaking pitches, including this massive hook to Joey Gallo.
Felipe Rivero’s Fastball + Changeup – Like many, we’re marveling at what Rivero is able to do on the mound on a nightly basis. A proper introduction would be these two pitches during his at-bat against Anthony Santander. First he painted the corner at 103mph, then followed it up with a Changeup near the same location but 10mph slower. Absurd.
Rich Hill’s Curveball – Hill had himself a night for his final outing of 2017, fanning 10 San Diego hitters across seven innings of work. His Curveball often catches our eye, especially when he dips his arm angle slightly to get a bit more horizontal bend like he did here against Allen Cordoba.
Blake Treinen’s Slider – We love to feature Treinen in these roundups, and I don’t think anyone blames us when he gets this much depth on his Slider at 87mph. Pitches like these that make us wonder who he gives up any Earned Runs at all.
David Price’s Cutter – Price has been working out of the pen in September and looked great against the Jays yesterday, fanning the side in the seventh inning. He got his second batter of the frame with an excellent Cutter that curled its way back to the plate for the strikeout.
