Jeurys Familia’s Fastball – It hasn’t been a good stretch of two games for Familia, blowing two consecutive save opportunities after converting 52 straight chances. However, he got a crucial first out in the ninth inning of Thursday’s game by getting Tony Wolters to chase this 98 mph heater that had a boatload of horizontal ride.

Cole Hamels‘ Changeup – Hamels has himself a night, racking up 12 strikeouts against the Royals in eight innings of work. His Changeup is his best pitch, and he executed it perfectly to fan Brett Eibner in the second frame.

Robbie Ray’s Slider – Despite allowing five earned runs against the Brewers, Ray maintained his strikeout flurry by adding eleven Ks to his name. He has a deadly Slider with late break that was too much for Martin Maldonado to handle.

Ubaldo Jimenez’s Split-Changeup – Ubaldo has his moments of brilliance and had his spot in the limelight as struck out eight Twins while allowing just 1 ER in five innings. When his Split-Changeup works, it can be a tough pitch to resist, and in one of Eduardo Nunez’s final at-bats as a twin, he couldn’t refuse an offer at this offering from Jimenez.

Zach Davies‘ Fastball – Davies has quietly been productive as a member of the Brewers staff this season. He continued his success last night against the Diamondbacks, spotting his Fastball perfectly around the plate. The late break on this heater allows the pitch to slip right under the bat of Yasmany Tomas for the K in fourth.

Jacob deGrom’s Changeup –  It was another coasted outing for deGrom as he silenced the visiting Rockies over seven frames. He didn’t earn a ton of strikeouts, though this Changeup in the dirt to DJ Lemahieu was as pretty as they come. (Thanks to Redditor see_mohn for the tip!)
