Congrats to Blake Treinen’s Fastball for winning Nastiest Pitching GIF of the Week! Treinen packs a ton of movement at 97+ mph and we can all agree that it’s simply not fair.
Jeurys Familia’s Fastball – Familia got his chance to close again for the Mets and took advantage of the opportunity, getting the strikeout in a tough jam. He used his classic Sinker that is still riding plenty as it fell from the inside corner into Michael Taylor’s thighs.
Clayton Kershaw’s Curveball – Kershaw’s Curveball is one of the most famous pitches in the game, and he stunned Pablo Sandoval with the sky hook in the eighth inning as he worked his way to 200 strikeouts for the season.
Jake Odorizzi’s Changeup – Odorizzi has been on a roll lately, including a nine strikeout effort against the Orioles over the weekend. His Split-Changeup is his favorite weapon to put away batters, and he did just that against Tim Beckham in the fifth.
Tommy Hunter’s Fastball – We don’t feature Hunter much in these roundups, but with the amount of movement the reliever got on this Fastball, we couldn’t deny him a spot. It’s an impossible pitch to lay off, while also impossible to hit at a blistering 95mph.
Rich Hill’s Curveball – The Dodgers have a pair of southpaws with incredible yackers, with Hill fighting with Kershaw for the best on the team. Check out Hill’s deuce as it curled back to the plate against Nick Hundley.
Stephen Strasburg’s Changeup – It was business as usual for Strasburg, cruising through the Mets lineup for a Win on Saturday evening. His Changeup is a big reason for his success, here fanning Amed Rosario with a 90mph “slow ball” as it fell off the cliff before arriving at the plate.

It’s not important at all, but that’s probably Tim Beckham and not Tim Anderson in the third GIF.
