Jake Arrieta’s Curveball – Arrieta’s arsenal has been fun to watch for years and last night it was his Curveball that made us giddy. Check out how much drop it got against Carlos Moncrief for a big strikeout in the fourth. (Thanks to @TakeAMilligan for the tip!)
Dylan Bundy’s Slider – Bundy had himself a night against the Angels, fanning ten batters across seven sturdy innings. If only he could throw Sliders like this one to Kaleb Cowart in every start…
Carlos Martinez’s Changeup – After a bit of shaky ground over the last month, CarMart has his first 7 strikeout + 2 ER start since the end of June. Everything was on for the Cardinals’ ace, especially his Changeup that showcased a ton of tide to putaway Melky Cabrera to lead off the sixth frame.
Matt Moore’s Curveball – We’re a fan of big looping Curveballs and Moore spotted a beauty on the outside corner to freeze opposing pitcher Jake Arrieta in the top of the fourth. Notice how far this pitch starts off the plate before it sneaks its way back into the zone.
Pedro Strop’s Fastball – Strop is boasting a 10.15 K/9 across the 2017 season and he can thank an overpowering Fastball that features more life than it should for his success. We got a great look at its life last night as he blew this 97mph pitch past Jarrett Parker. (Thanks to @DJFreddie10 for the tip!)
