Injury Report – 6/14

Jeff Davis provides an update in today's edition of the Injury Report.

Hello and welcome to the Injury Report!

This roundup is a biweekly article, published on Mondays and Fridays, where I aim to detail approximately five relevant injuries that have occurred over the past few days or provide an update on the injury of a prominent MLB player. I will try to incorporate the available information as well as my own knowledge and experience to approximate a return date in each case, noting the individual characteristics of the injuries and of the players themselves.

If you have questions regarding an injury not detailed in this article, feel free to comment below, and I will give my best effort to provide a timely update.

Corey Seager – Left Hamstring Strain

Corey Seager hit the IL with a left hamstring strain. The MRI put the strain somewhere between Grade 1 and 2. Though no official timetable has been released, expect Seager to miss approximately a six to eight weeks.

Estimated return: Mid-August.

Ken Giles – Right Elbow Inflammation

Ken Giles hit the IL when he showed elbow inflammation after throwing in back-to-back games. Giles was placed on the IL via a retroactive move and has stated he expects to return when first able. This return seems reasonable, though there is not much room to rush, and it makes sense for Giles and the Jays to ensure his health. To my knowledge, Giles does not have a history of elbow issues.

Estimated return: Late June.

Mike Clevinger – Back Injury

Mike Clevinger has made progress in his rehabilitation and is slated to start for the Indians on Monday.

Estimated return: June 17th.

Giancarlo Stanton – Calf Injury

Giancarlo Stanton appears to have recovered from the biceps and shoulder injuries that initially placed him on the IL and has nearly returned from his calf injury. Stanton has begun a rehab assignment and is likely to return in the middle of next week—Tuesday has been noted as a possibility.

Estimated return: Middle of next week.

Aaron Judge – Oblique Injury

Aaron Judge may embark on a rehab assignment this weekend after participating in a simulated game without concern. He will likely need a week in the minors, give or take a few days, and could be an option in the last week of June should he remain on this schedule.

Estimated return: June 24.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep a running list of all notable injuries currently incurred by impact players? Then you update accordingly if news is out, adding and subtracting players as new ones get injured and old ones progress? I always click on these articles looking for an update on players i’m stashing but its only updates on the most recent injuries which is cool i guess but also obvious to a point. Am I making sense? Like, i don’t need to come here to read Giancarlo is expected back next week, I can just click on his news on my roster and learn that.

It used to be a spreadsheet listing all the injured players, what injuries they had, and the dates they were expected back… no idea why they changed it to this much worse layout.

      Hi Matt,

As the other reply stated we used to feature a table of player injuries with approximate return dates. It was altered to the current form for this year as the previous iteration took far too much time to prepare.

With that said, if there is any player in particular you’d like me to look at feel free to mention it in the comments and I will either reply or include an update on that player in the next article.

      Thank you for reading.
