Hitter List 7/21: Top 150+ Hitters For 2022 – Week 15

The top 150 hitters for 2022 fantasy baseball, plus a taxi squad.

First, let’s get some basics out of the way in terms of how to interpret these rankings. None of this stuff should come as any major surprise, but it never hurts to provide background:

  • I’m warming up to Christian Yelich as a 20/20 hitter who has a weirdly low slugging percentage due to his batted ball profile that’s chock-full of line drives and ground balls.

  • Come on, Ke’Bryan Hayes, show us how exciting you can be. Please. The people of Pittsburgh need you.

  • I refuse to drop Nelson Cruz much further until I’m sure he’s cooked. I saw him effortlessly flick too many balls into the stands against my Tigers to look at this reasonably.

  • Luis Arraez is finally slugging .500 like I always hoped. He’s hitting more home runs than I ever thought he would and I expect some of that to turn back into doubles, but even so, he’s been a revelation this season.

TAXI SQUAD

  • Jarred Kelenic is going to be a monster. He’s got a 144 wRC+ in July down in triple-A with a 13.1% walk rate and a 19.7% strikeout rate. He’s not Julio Rodríguez but there’s a reason we were so excited for him.

Hmm, the fact that Taylor Ward has held his #47 spot suggests that you think he will bounce back…

  2. anti pena man says:

Is Pena only this high since he is a SS? WTF stat shows Pena as more valuable than anyone above 100?

    • John-Michael Leahy says:

Hitting between Altuve and Alvarez today mmmmm (sorry Tucker, maybe next year lol)

    • Scott Chu says:

He’s been the #79 hitter so far and missed a fair amount of time. I think he can make adjustments and hit again, plus hell always play when healthy.

A bit surprised to see Varsho still so high on this and other lists, considering he’s slashed .197/.247/.336 since June 1 with four HR and two SB. (Then again, Will Smith is having a monster July and he dropped four spots.)

      1) Still believe a lot in the hit tool and tools. Not a lot of catchers have his upside.

      2) He actually moved up my Catcher rankings but I moved a few guys above the catchers. It’s more about me devaluing catcher as a whole in 1C leagues as the position has some added depth this season.

    Hi Scott

Would you trade Strider for Semiem. I’m worried about Striders innings and I need a good hitter to complete with the 1st place team. Currently have Polanco and Rodgers at 2nd.

    Thank you

  5. Joe Mulvey says:

Into the depths I cry out, Tommy Pham is crushing me!
