Hitter List 6/22: Top 180 Hitters For 2022 – Week 11

The top 150 hitters for 2022 fantasy baseball, plus a taxi squad.

First, let’s get some basics out of the way in terms of how to interpret these rankings. None of this stuff should come as any major surprise, but it never hurts to provide background:

  • George Springer has injury concerns again. If he’s OK, he stays in this tier. If he’s not, well, crud.

  1. Idles of Marsh says:

Hey Scott, did Rowdy drop off altogether?

    • Scott Chu says:

I’m starting to think he’s just a guy who gets hot sometimes. Plenty of other fish in the league.

  2. Mike Honcho says:

I’m curious. If Muncy is toast, then why is he even ranked at all? Grisham doesn’t appear anywhere and he has 2 healthy elbows. Tellez is suddenly gone. Voit has hit more HRs in last last 2 weeks than Muncy all year, an he’s below him. Just trying to make sense of it all. Thx!

    • Scott Chu says:

I’m worried Muncy is toast, but I’m willing to believe he isn’t. If he turned into 75% of what he’s supposed to be, would you take that over Voit or Tellez or Grisham?

      • Scott Chu says:

Further, Grisham still looks like a .225 hitter who can’t hit 20 home runs or steal 12 bases. Chase something better in redraft. And probably keeper.

        • Mike Honcho says:

I agree on Grisham. Too bad. On the other hand, the 22 HR in 56 games Voit, or somewhere close is not a bad option. Could be an extreme outlier, but it happened.

  3. Don't be a Hader says:

Given the health issues of both, would you trade Muncy for K.Bryant?

  4. He gets on base .... says:

Varsho over Kirk? What game are you watching? You get paid for these observations?

    • Joe Mulvey says:

No need to be rude lad. You can be civil and make your point.

    • Scott Chu says:

Not much. Much less, in fact, than the minds behind. Steamer, ZiPS, FGDC, and THE BAT – all of whom project Varsho as a better option due to the stolen bases.

But yes, I get paid. So thanks for the clicks. We appreciate your business so that we can keep creating the best baseball content on the internet.

  5. Joe Mulvey says:

Scott, thank you for your work.
I kept Javy after all and am glad.
I am wondering why Harrison Bader is ranked as high as he is. It feels like he’d be more comfortable with the fellas in group 10. I looked at his numbers last night and the were good but not really good. Should I dump Kiki Hernandez for him? How about Tyler O’Neil?
    I need help.

    • Scott Chu says:

He’s a viable speed guy right now who does have power potential. If you don’t need the speed, you can push him down.

O’Neill is the guy for me in this one.

  6. Paul says:

Hey Scott, why the drop for Hunter Renfroe? You mentioned “finally acting on hunches” in Tier 10. I’m not complaining or arguing, just curious. He’s one of those batters who I keep getting close to dropping, and then he gives me a reason not to…
Thanks for your efforts every week.

    • Scott Chu says:

Fair question. He’s a hot/cold guy who is hot right now. Hell move up a bit between this tier, the tier above, and the tier below based on how quickly he adjusts and how long he stays hot.

  7. Joe Mulvey says:

Happy belated birthday. WAF podcast was great, but it even makes me more curious about Harrison Bader.

  8. Toby says:

Why putting CJ Cron ahead of Freeman? Freeman’s upside is far beyond Cron, plus I haven’t seen splits, but Cron seems like a coors field abuser

    • Scott Chu says:

“I just need to see Freddie Freeman clear the fences a few times to feel better. He does have four extra-base hits in his last three games, so hopefully that gets the home run juices flowing. ”

Since I wrote that he has back to back 2-hit games and two home runs.

      Hell be up again.

  9. Kelly Rumble says:

Love and appreciate the rankings…but what’s up with Nimmo’s positions?
