Gerrit Cole’s Slider – Cole proved emphatically why he was the No. 1 overall pick, tossing seven strong innings and fanning 12. His slider was absolutely masterful here, getting a huge whiff from Jason Kipnis.

Gerrit Cole’s Slider 2.0 – The pitch so nice we featured it twice. And how could we not, after seeing this wicked offering to Yan Gomes. This pitch would be devastating at 75 miles per hour, but at 90? It’s unreal.

Carlos Carrasco’s Changeup – Carrasco didn’t quite get Martin Maldonado swinging out of his shoes on this one, although swinging straight out of his helmet is close enough.

Brandon Workman’s Slider – The playoffs are where the stars truly come out. And while Workman is by no means a star, his wicked slider sure was on this offering to Didi Gregorius. Woof.

Masahiro Tanaka’s Splitter – Tanaka fanned four in five solid innings on Saturday. His splitter has continue to mystify opposing hitters, here getting a big golf hack from Ian Kinsler.

Trevor Bauer’s Slider – Bauer is normally featured on here because of his two-seamer or his big heavy curveball, but here is a nice reminder that he has a solid slide-piece as well. Poor Martin Maldonado.

Re: Workman Slider – Since he doesn’t throw a slider, it would be amazing if that was the first one he threw all year. Also, you can clearly see he has a curveball grip when his hands break. Finally, on Fangraphs it shows that the avg. speed of his curve in 2018 was 80.5mph and he also throws a cutter, but does not throw a slider.

Love the content, but been noticing more of these errors with pitch identification.
