Ervin Santana’s Changeup – Santana had a tough matchup in Toronto and ultimately got the loss against the Blue Jays’ new ace David Price. He was still able to make some quality pitches like this nasty Changeup to Josh Donaldson that induced some fun antics from the slugger.
Garrett Richards‘ Cutter – This may not look like a very impressive pitch at first until you glance in the lower left-hand corner to see that this pitch was thrown at 95 MPH. That’s right, Richards gets that much movement on his Cutter at a velocity most guys can only dream of throwing their Four-Seamer. Crazy.
Felix Hernandez’s Curveball – It wasn’t Felix’s best in Colorado Monday night, but he generated 9 strikeouts with some excellent breaking pitches. Here he got back into the count against Ben Paulson with a hook that darts all across the plate. (Thanks to @benwilber for the tip!)
Bartolo Colon’s Fastball – It may be a rocky season for The Big Apple, but he can still throw one of the best back-door Fastballs in the bigs. Check out this one that froze Adeiny Hechavarria for the strikeout. (Thanks to @nv for the tip!)
Zack Godley’s Cutter – Unfortunately, Godley will be demoted of his role in the staff with Chase Anderson’s return to Arizona, but not before Godley did an excellent job silencing the Nationals Monday evening. Check out the excellent movement he gets on his 91 MPH Cutter as Ian Desmond can’t help but go fishing.
