Chad Green’s Fastball

Oh boy, is Chad Green back. He’s been phenomenal since he’s returned from the minors thanks to disgusting pitches like these. This fastball looked drive-able too, before it switched to sixth gear and zoomed away. Just another weapon in the Yankees ‘pen. Ho hum.

Walker Buehler’s Curveball

Buehler has been outstanding over his last eight starts, running a sub 1.75 ERA over that stretch. He had everything working last night, especially his curveballs. This one just disappears on Addison Russell.

Yu Darvish’s Changeup

Yu Darvish has had a rocky start to his contract with the Cubs (to say the least). However, we’ve recently seen that the stuff is still there, he just needs to get back to commanding it. Tonight’s start (7IP, 1ER, 10K, 3H+BB) will go a long way to building up his confidence and putting his struggles behind him.

Shane Bieber’s Curveball

Shane Bieber was electric today (7.2IP, 2ER, 12K, 5H+BB). It was nice to see him get back on track after his tough outing against the Yankees last turn. Bieber has been very inconsistent over his last four starts, but we have to pay attention to the fact that he’s gone 54:8 K:BB during over his last 35 and a third. If he can tone down the “hittability” just a little bit, we could have an outstanding pitcher on our hands.

Jimmy Nelson’s Slider

Jimmy Nelson has experienced a rough start to his MLB return, but we can take solace in the fact he still has elite stuff. This slider to  dives very hard in on lefties—this pitch should be a big weapon during his return to form.
