Jose Abreu is the hottest hitter on the planet over the past two weeks. He is hitting a robust .420 over that span to go along with eight homers and 19 RBI. While that pace may not be sustainable, Abreu has an entire career’s worth of a track record in which the slugger has a .294 AVG.

The lefty masher Wilmer Flores is hitting .368 over the past week and .318 over the past two weeks. With the DH in the National League for the shortened season, Flores is getting everyday run in the Giants’ lineup and is definitely on the mixed league radar if he hasn’t been scooped up already.

Brandon Lowe is coming off of a stretch that saw him score a run in ten straight games and 16 overall during that span. Coming off an injury-shortened, albeit all-star season in 2019, Lowe is looking more and more like the real deal hitting in the upper third of the Rays’ lineup.

Brandon Nimmo has been the hitter we had hoped he’d be in 2019 thus far. The 27-year old has been an on-base machine and it has led to 19 runs scored through 26 games. That is a 119 run pace over 162 games.

As boring of a fantasy option as he is, there is one Eric Hosmer does well, and that is drive in runs. The first baseman has averaged 92 RBI over the past five years and he currently has 18 in 18 games thus far in 2020. If you are lagging behind in RBI, while Hosmer isn’t the sexiest pick up, he is worth a look in deeper leagues.

The Tigers have moved Victor Reyes into their leadoff spot, and for good reason. He has enjoyed some early season success thus far including being 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts. One would have to assume hitting at the top of the order would lead to more SB opportunities.

Despite having a rather light workload to this point in the shortened season, Kenta Maeda has earned four victories for his new club. Finally getting a regular gig as a starter for the Twins, Maeda has been excellent, and with the high scoring ability of the Minnesota offense he should be able to rack up a few more W’s this year.

He will for sure be a popular name come the trade deadline for teams in need of pitching depth.

After a long layoff, Jack Flaherty has been stretched out in his past two starts and reached 64 pitches in his previous outing. He should be capped at around 85-90 pitches in his next turn and thus be let loose from here on out. Flaherty has all the tools to finish as one of the top ERA leaders in the league.

The Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff is just filled with bat missers. Freddy Peralta makes for an interesting add in many formats due to his 16 K/9 and his eligibility at SP and RP. Peralta has been working out of the pen, but tends to work multiple innings every few days and thus is able to rack up as many strikeouts as most starting pitchers.

What an unbelievable story it has been for Daniel Bard. This is a guy who in 2014 in A-ball had given up 13 earned runs, nine walks, and seven HBP in just 2/3 of an inning across four outings. Yes, those numbers are real. His career appeared to be completely over. Fast forward six years and Bard finds himself as the current closer for the Rockies and on the fantasy radar once again.

After violating team policies and not starting a game since early August, Mike Clevinger is slated to return this week, much to the delight of fantasy owners. Clev’s WHIP is a tad high in his small sample size in 2020, but he owns a 1.11 over the last two years so I would expect the Ace to be back on his game down the stretch.

Walker Buehler is a generational talent with all the tools. And while the young righty has gotten off to a rocky start, his most recent outing showed exactly why we were drafting him in the second round heading into this season. He tossed six innings of one-run ball while striking out 11. Do not be surprised if he goes on a major run to close this truncated year. Try and buy low if you still can.
