Carlos Carrasco’s Changeup – This changeup here is just stupid at 88 MPH and Ryan Cordell can do nothing with this pitch. Carrasco was dealing last night, striking out eleven in 6.2 innings of work, giving up only four hits and a walk.

Jack Flaherty’s Slider – Jack Flaherty did not fare well yesterday in a loss against the Braves, only lasting 4.2 innings, but his slider is still pure filth here and Tyler Flowers is walking back to the dugout with his head down.

Walker Buehler’s Fastball – Walker was absolutely cooking with gas last night against the Rockies, striking out a career-high twelve hitters in six innings of work. Buehler’s fastball has been untouchable as of late, as highlighted here with a little bit of assistance from Yasmani Grandal’s framing.

Jimmy Yacabonis‘ Slider – I won’t lie to you, I actively sought out a Blue Jays player to start in yesterday’s lineup for my semi-finals matchup because I had never heard of this guy and thought he would get lit up. Of course he goes ahead and pitches four clean innings and strikes out four, including this brilliant slider to Kevin Pillar.

Touki Toussaint’s Curveball – I don’t just root for Toussaint’s success because he may have the best name in baseball, I root for him because he’s shown incredible promise since being called up. This wicked curveball to Marcell Ozuna is dirty.

Luis Severino’s Slider – Last night’s Sev is the Sev we need to be seeing. The slide piece was working and he pitched seven innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts and no walks.

Robbie Ray’s Slider – Robbie Ray continues to be effectively erratic. He hasn’t given up more than three earned runs in a start since July 30th, though the walk totals are still high. You can see why it is still working though, with sliders like this one to Albert Almora Jr.
