Welcome to the Bets of the Day column for Tuesday. As I have done so far this season, I will feature three bets that will make your Tuesday a great day. FYI, these lines are taken from Westgate Sportsbook in Las Vegas. Check out the triple play action below!

 

Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 Run Line (-105)

 

The Reds stink and they could wind up setting the MLB record for most losses in a season. Of their 19 losses so far, 16 of them have been by two or more runs. Keep in mind that less than 1/7 of the season has been played at this point! That means betting on their opponent’s run line has hit 72.7% of the time. With a typical payout of close to even money, your return on investment is 45.5% assuming you play the same amount on each game. I can’t think of a better betting strategy than the one I just described. The Brewers are a very good team and Brandon Woodruff should have himself a nice bounce-back game after a rough start to the season in Chicago about a month ago. Until the Reds prove they can be competitive, keep hammering their opposition’s run line.

 

Tampa Bay Rays Money Line (-126)

 

Another team that stinks is the Oakland A’s. They started off OK but are playing like the talent they have on paper with four straight losses. Sadly the A’s can’t draw a crowd of more than 4,000 people so that has to be demoralizing for the home team. Interestingly the Oakland Coliseum recently hosted a Little League event and I bet more people were in the stands for those games than the A’s games. Yikes! Let’s just hope the A’s can break ground on a new stadium very soon and can stay in the Bay Area. For now, this team looks very much like the Cleveland team with a former indigenous peoples name in the 1989 movie Major League. This team is gutted and can’t compete on an MLB level. Tampa Bay runs away with this one again.

 

San Francisco Giants–Los Angeles Dodgers Under 7 Runs (-110)

 

I know I have been off with my under bets lately but I think I am right about this one. These two squads were arguably the two best teams in baseball last season and I truly think if they had played in different divisions or leagues, one of them would have won the World Series. Unfortunately, they both exhausted their pitchers’ arms just to get home-field advantage and then had a hard-fought battle in the NLDS that wasn’t decided until late in the final game of the series which of course went the full distance. These two teams know each other well and feature two strong starting pitchers today. This will be a well-managed game on both sides and will feel like a playoff match. Keep in mind that the Dodgers’ total runs have not exceeded 6 runs in four of their last six games.
