Every morning we review the five best pitches from the previous day’s games in glorious HD GIFs. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite pitch and and check back this weekend to see if it will be in contention for the “GIF of the Week”. Did we miss your favorite pitch? Andrew Miller’s Slider – The Yankees’ closer has been one of the most dominant relievers in the bigs this season and struck out the Red Sox in order to earn his 29th save of the season Tuesday night. He earned his first K with a sweeping Slider that no lefty could have resisted.

Chris Sale’s Slider – Sale has double digit Ks last night once again, and his Slider led the charge as it darted all across the plate. He stunned Byron Buxton with this beautiful backdoor pitch for the strikeout. (Thanks to @Pburg34 for the tip!)

Rick Porcello’s Fastball – It was a career night for Porcello as he fanned 13 batters across eight innings of work against the rival Yankees. Watch at this heater dips right under the bat of Alex Rodriguez for his fifth consecutive strikeout.

Carlos Villanueva’s Slider – Villaneuva provided the Cardinals with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, accruing six Ks in that time. His first punchout was from this nasty slide piece that dove off the plate.

Carson Smith’s Slider – After allowing a leadoff triple, Smith bore down and struck out the side to keep Rasmus from scoring. His second K came against Luis Valbuena with a Slider that Valbuena didn’t come close to hitting. (Thanks to Reddit user fawkesmulder for the tip!)
