It’s been rough sledding for Aaron Nola so far as his 5.06 ERA can attest, but we got a look at some vintage Nola here against JaCoby Jones, jamming him like a pinkie toe on the coffee table with this beauty of a changeup.
Max Fried’s Curveball

His nasty breaking ball earned Max Fried the headlining gig in the roundup on April 26, but don’t let the lack of top-of-the-page status fool you — this curve is as nasty as any you’ll see this year. Fried has worked to a 2.11 ERA so far this season, and it’s easy to see how he’s performing so admirably in his third taste of the major leagues.
Max Scherzer’s Changeup

Star vs. star in this one, and Max Scherzer came out on top with the nasty offspeed putaway. While today wasn’t his finest start, it also wasn’t his worst, as you can see.
Felipe Vazquez’s Changeup

It was a changeup party on Wednesday, and Felipe Vazquez was certainly invited. Even with the brutal taunting from blue hat man in the back, Vazquez still dropped Hunter Pence to a knee to close out another Pirates victory.
Jacob DeGrom’s Slider

Jacob deGrom broke his three-game skid with style, throwing seven shutout innings and one nasty, nasty slider here to Yasiel Puig. There’s honestly not a whole lot I can add to this one; it’s just good old-fashioned deGrom being deGrom.
